Vuë de la Place Neuve de Louis XV

Illuminated optical view on Place Louis XV, what is now the Place the la Concorde. In the middle of the square the statue of Louis XV is situated. The square is crowded with people. The windows and light sources of the buildings are perforated (dots and cut outs). At the back of the print we see that the holes are covered with see-through paper. Some of the holes are covered with red, green and yellow paint. This gives the illusion of lights when the print is held in front of a light source. The print itself is coloured in very vibrant colours. The title is also written in ink on the top of the frame. (Parijs)
