Frontispiece to a volume from a collection of works by Jacob Cats. Although the plate is not signed, it might be designed by Adriaen van de Venne. A man stands at the center of the composition, invested by a ray of light, while in the background a woman is holding a man by he cloack and tying to drag him to bed. The title suggests the struggle a man has to deal with between the good and the evil throughout life.
