Beschrijving
Amsterdam (Amsteldam), J. Morterre, 1765, 8vo., [34]+314 pp., without binding, wrapped in leather from another binding that is too small for this book, in the front there are remnants visible of some strips of marbled paper. Was this part of the binding? It could have been a paperbound book. Or was it part of the endpaper construction? That is also possible. As it is, it concerns a sewn book block (sewn on parchment strips) with ruffled edges and damage to the corners (folded corners) in the front and the back. The inside of the book block is clean and without tears. With an engraved printer's mark on the titlepage (‘Altro diletto ch' imparar non provo’, J. Goereen inv.) and an engraved frontispiece with a portrait of Karel II. There is a table of content which makes clear there should be two volumes (8 books) plus appendices. This book only has volume 1 (4 books).
