Amsterdam, Isaak Tirion, 1749-1759, half leather bindings with gold tooling and titleplate on spine, red sprinkled edges, preface+450+406+550+508+442+498+539+508+467+504+500+483+487+506+508+441+552+531+531+455+324 pp. The books are a little worn along the edges and the leather is scratched and faded. The book blocks are still of solid construction and have little stains. All in all a good and attractive set. With an engraved titlepage in volume 1 (J. Punt inv. et fecit) and beautiful (fold out) engravings in each volume (L.F. du Bourg del., J. Folkema sculp.) depicting various historical scenes. Volume 21 is the index and has no engravings. The map in volume 1 (‘Een kaart van 't oude vaderland’) and the map in volume 2 (‘Kaart van het vaderland in de Middeleeuwen’) are not present. There are however two extra engravings that are not mentioned in the list of illustrations in the index. It concerns a map in volume 6 (‘Kaart van de belegeringe der stad Leyden’, Tirion, Amsterdam, 1752) and an engraving in volume 8 (‘Kasteel Breda verrast in 1590’, Tirion). With an ex libris in every volume: Hermann & Marta van Ham (Consilio et Amore).
