Amsterdam, Balthazar Lakeman, 1724, 4to., full parchment spitsel binding with handwritten title on spine, [14]+702+[32] pp., the spitsels are damaged but the book block is still solid and the connection of the endpapers to the parchment binding is still intact, smudged parchment, clear print work with only some stains. The endpapers show a beautiful watermark of a fleur-de-lis and there is a woodcut printer's mark on the titlepage, with lovely decorative initials. This is a collection of sermons written by Dominicus Goltzius (1644 – 1721) who was a Dutch clergyman (Gerreformeerde Kerk) from the second half of the 17th century. He published several works. He represented the ‘Nadere Reformatie’ movement. They believed that the teachings of the bible should have more impact on everyday life. Scarce.
