Manuscript, 16,5×11,5cm, 15pp. pastepater softcover binding, written by Ds. Willem Cornelis van Campen, born 11 April 1785 in Leiden, died 2 January 1842 in Spaarndam. In 1822 he became clergyman/predikant at Spaarndam; then predikant in Schoorl, in 1844 worked for Hoogheemraadschap. He had several sons
One of them, the eldest Frederik, would fight at the Tiendaagse Veldtocht. He married Willemina Frederika Booij on 20 december 1811 at Leiden. This handwritten manuscript contains firstly a poem on the eve of the departure of their eldest son Frederik (2e bataljon Jagers) on 30 October 1830 to take part in the campaign against the Belgian revolutionaries. The second poem is adressed to his wife to support her in the anxiety over a son going to war, the third is about three men (Dutchman, Englisham and Frenchman) with alliteration to actual events.

The son Frederik van Campen (Schoorl 1812-1865) was opzichter Heemraadschap van den Amstel en Nieuwer Amstel, he lived in Ouder Amstel. He married Margaretha Agnes Hamers on 19 December 1844 te Spaarndam. He survived the campaign.
