The Eiffel Tower, Paris, with the river Seine in the foreground.
Chromotypogravure on wove paper, backed with cloth. Chromotypogravure was a relief halftone printing method in which the colour was printed from metal blocks. This essentially combines the ideas of relief halftone printing, with the colour printing from chromoxylography. Sheet size 624 x 433 mm. Made after an anonymous photograph by Bousson, Valladon & Cie., published and sold by Strauss and Nilsson (both with Paris address).
In good condition. The image area clean and vibrant, with a small brown spot in the top edge of the image. The margins faintly browned. Right margin with minimal imperfections. Left margin creased, causing some surface damage (consolidated with acid-free archival tape). Some surface damage (insect) in the top margin.
