Bust-length portrait of Mary, with the Christ-child cradled in her arms.
Lithograph on wove paper, sheet size 714 x 496 mm. Lithographed by Christian de Moor, signed in the stone and dated 1941. With K-number (illegible; K-numbers were assigned by the Kulturkammer to identify printers and publishers during the German occupation of the Netherlands in the Second World War). With a manuscript dedication: ‘aan 's Gravesande 5 Dec 1941’, making this is a Sinterklaas gift, probably from the artist to a member of the 's Gravesande family.
Chris de Moor (Rotterdam 1899-1981 Amsterdam) was a Dutch lithographer, graphic designer, graphic artist, painter, watercolorist, as well as academy teacher.
In fair condition: bands of discolouration in the top and bottom edges of the sheet. A dampstain in one of Mary's hands, some creasing in the sheet edges and a small tear in the lower and left edges (both closed with acid-free archival tape). Two dampstains in the top left corner.
