Beschrijving
Oval bust-length potrrait of Pierre Jeannin (1542-1623). He was a French statesman, otherwise known as a surintendant des finances. In 1573 he married Anne Gueniot and had one daughter, Charlotte Jeannin.
Engraving on hand laid paper, attached to carrier sheet. Sheet size 195 x 123 mm., carrier size 238 x 157 mm. Engraving by Hendrick (I) Hondius (monogrammed HH in the caption below the image), published by the same in 1608.
Hendrick (I) Hondius (1573 – c. 1650) was a Flemish-born and trained engraver, cartographer, and publisher who settled in the Dutch Republic in 1597.
In good condition, cropped within platemark and attached to carrier sheet by all four corners. Some surface soiling in the image area, a dark stain in the caption below the image.
