Oval bust-length potrrait of Pierre Jeannin (1542-1623). He was a French statesman, otherwise known as a surintendant des finances. In 1573 he married Anne Gueniot and had one daughter, Charlotte Jeannin.
Engraving on laid paper, attached to carrier sheet. Sheet size 140 x 88 mm., carrier size 220 x 121 mm. Engraving by Jan Lamsvelt, published as a book illustration (according to the caption 'Tom. 4 Pag. 518' in the top right corner), c. 1700
Jan Lamsvelt (1664-after 1725) was a Dutch etcher and publisher, active in Amsterdam and Utrecht.
In good condition, cropped within platemark and attached to carrier by all four corners. Binding holes in the left margin, some soiling in the lower right corner.
