Oval portrait of Michel Le Tellier, marquis de Barbezieux, seigneur de Chaville et de Viroflay (1603-1685), a French statesman.
Etching and engraving on hand laid paper, sheet size 238 x 177 mm., platemark 225 x 159 mm. Engraving by Nicolas de Larmessin, published by Pierre Bertrand in Paris, 1662. This print was later also used as the frontispiece for: Bossuet, Jacques Benigne. Oraison Funèbre du très haut et très puissant Messire Michel le Tellier, chevalier, chancelier de France (.). Paris: Sebastien Mabre-Cramoisy, 1686.
Nicolas de Larmessin (1632-1694) was a French engraver and publisher from Paris.
In good condition, creasing in the top left and right corners and in the caption below the image. Some general soiling, but overall a nice impression.
