Octagonal bust-length portrait of Pierre du Cambout (1636-1706), a French prelate. He was a grandson of Pierre Séguier and held many important offices: abbot of Jumièges, of Saint-Victor, canon of Paris, and first king's almoner. He was finally Grand Almoner of France and bishop of Orléans from 1665 to 1706, as well as cardinal priest of Trinità dei Monti.
Etching and engraving on hand laid paper, sheet size 279 x 213 mm., platemark 229 x 166 mm. Made c. 1700.
In very good condition, with ample margins. A crease and a small tear in the right margin. Margins overall foxed.
