Oval bust-length portrait of Henri II d'Orléans, duc de Longueville or Henri de Valois-Longueville (1595-1663), a legitimated prince of France and peer of France. He served as the governor of Picardy, then of Normandy, and was a major figure during the Fronde.
Engraving on hand laid paper, sheet size 265 x 185 mm. Enrgaved by Robert Nanteuil after Philippe de Champaigne, published 1655. This portrait was used to illustrate a poem: Chapelain. La Pucelle ou la France délivrée, 1656.
In very good condition, but cropped within platemark. A few faint spots of soiling in the corners.
