Engraving on hand laid paper, attached to carrier sheet. Sheet size 205 x 138 mm., carrier size 278 x 184 mm. Engraved by François Langlois, c. 1621-1647.
François Langlois, also called il Ciartres (from Chartres) (1589-1647) was a French print publisher, print seller, engraver, bookseller, art dealer, and painter. He is widely considered to have been the first important print publisher in France and to have contributed significantly to spreading awareness of contemporary artists' work throughout Europe.
