Circular profile portrait of Johann Benjamin Erhard. Johann Benjamin Erhard (Nuremberg 1766-1827 Berlin) was a German political philosopher and doctor during the French Revolution.
Stipple engraving on wove paper, sheet size 257 x 208 mm., platemark 148 x 108 mm. Engraved by Friedrich Fleischmann, c. 1830.
Friedrich Fleischmann (Nuremberg 1791-1834) was a German illustrator, draftsperson, miniature painter, and graphic artist, who made mainly portraits. He was the father of Andreas and Jacob Fleischmann.
In good condition. Some stains just below the platemark, some foxing in the left margin. Two sets of two collection marks on the verso: Lugt 789a (D RPK; duplicate Rijksprentenkabinet, Amsterdam) and Lugt 2228 (Rijksmuseum Amsterdam).
