En profil portrait of Johann August Ephraim Goeze. Goeze (1731-1793) was a German zoologist, born in Aschersleben. He is known for the discovery of tardigrades, also called water bears.
Engraving with stipple work, on hand laid paper, sheet size 152 x 94 mm. Made by an anonymous engraver, after an anonymous painting (now in the Gleimhaus collection in Halberstadt). The dating of this print is based on the dating of the painting.
In good condition, cropped within platemark, a small and faint dampstain in the top edge (not affecting the portrait oval).
