Portrait of Franz Ludwig Pfyffer (Lucerne 1716-1802). Pfyffer was a Swiss statesman and soldier, as well as mountaineer and topographer. Pfyffer is here represented in country clothes, sketching on part of Mount Pilatus near the town of Lucerne.
Stipple and line engraving on laid paper. Sheet size 265 x 227 mm., platemark 138 x 92 mm. Engraving by Johann Christian Ernst Müller, based on the painting by Carl Reinhardt. Published c. 1800.

In good condition, ample margins. Margins lightly foxed, a few darker spots in the margins.
