Seated portrait of Desiderius Erasmus, at a table, his hands folded on the pages of an open book.
Engraving and etching on hand laid paper, sheet size 268 x 167 mm. Engraved by Alexis Chataigner after Félix Trézel (who was, as the caption 'Holbeen' suggests, inspired by the painting by Hans Holbein the Younger). Numbered 23 in the top left. This print is part of 'Galerie du Musée Napoléon', a series of 718 prints after paintings and sculptures from the collection of Musée Napoléon. The series was published from 1804 by Antoine Michel Filhol, and was continued until 1812 by his widow, after his death.
