Philip Zilcken (The Hague 1857 – 1930 Villefranche-sur-Mer) was an engraver, etcher, biographer, photographer and art critic. He became 'secrétaire intime officieux' to Queen Sophia of the Netherlands at the age of sixteen. He was editor of Elsevier's Geïllustreerd Maandschrift between 1896-1905. Zilcken made numerous reproduction prints after paintings of the Hague School.
In very good condition, with a few spots of foxing in the left margin and far left edge of the chine (not affecting the image itself).
