Two cabbages (one cut in half) and onions on a table or ledge.
Woodcut on Japanese paper, sheet size 346 x 288 mm., image c. 150 x 215 mm. Made by Arend van Starrenburg and published in the Houtsnedenummer (Woodcut issue) of the famous periodical Wendingen in 1919 (year 2, nr. 7/8). It was printed by De Volharding and published by De Hooge Brug.
Arend Paulus Willem van Starrenburg, here curiously credited as A.C.W. instead of A.P.W. (Amsterdam 1874 – 1945 Hilversum) was a Dutch artist. He was an autodidact painter, graphic artist, draughtsperson, and graphic designer. He was, however, guided by Lion Cachet and Richard Roland Holst.
In good condition, the right edge folded over. Some creasing in the center of the very delicate paper.
