Beschrijving
A boy climbing stairs, with a sack with the year 1946 printed on it, combs the beard of an old man leaning on a sword and holding scales. Behind the man, in flames, the years 1940 to 1945 rise up. This refers to the end of the second world war, and is accompanied by the caption 'Kam uit de klis, eert slimmer is'. This in turn references Jan Luyken's series of prints of occupations, and specifically the comb maker.
