This work was originally published under the superintendence of the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge. Whilst no author is listed to the title page, this volume and the others in the set are attributed to Arthur Thomas Malkin. Volume III and IV only. With numerous black and white in-text illustrations, fourty eight portrait plates (each with a protective tissue guard).
