Amsterdam (Amsteldam), Hendrik Boom en de Weduwe van Dirk Boom, 1692, 4to., full parchment spitsel binding with handwritten title on the spine, [8]+358+[36] pp., the book is in very good condition with a solid construction and clear pages. There is dark brown stain on the back of binding and the endpapers are a bit ruffled, especcially on the inside of the cover boards, but otherwise the book is very neat. There is a printer's mark (HDB) on the titlepage with the title printed in black and red.
There are some markings in pencil to highlight sections in the text.
Written by the famous Hugo de Groot (1583-1645), also known as Grotius, or sometimes Huig de Groot, who escaped his imprisonment in Loevestein by hiding in a book chest. He was a Dutch humanist, lawyer and writer.
