Bust-length portrait of Lucas van Leyden (Leiden 1494-1533), the famous Dutch painter.
Engraving on hand-laid paper, after a self-portrait by Van Leyden. Sheet size 273 x 201 mm., platemark 221 x 168 mm. Engraving by Andries Jacobsz, made ca. 1613-1648. Stock (Antwerp? 1580/82 – 1648 The Hague). Stock was a reproductive engraver, printmaker, illustrator and publisher. Little is known about his life, except he enrolled in the St. Lucas Guild in The Hague in 1613. The last mention about Stock is in an archival document in 1648.
In very good condition, with slightly browned margins overall.
