Caption: Franciscus à Mieris, Pictor Leidensis. It shows the painter Frans I van Mieris half-length, in a sumtuous mantle, and with a city in the background. After a self-portrait by Van Mieris.
Etching with plate tone and stipple work, on hand laid paper. Sheet size 227 x 172 mm., platemark 216 x 158 mm. Made ca. 1665-1738.
Carel II de Moor (Leiden 1655 – 1738 Warmond) was a Dutch painter and printmaker. He was the son of art dealer and frame maker Carel I de Moor from Antwerp. In 1714 Carel II de Moor was elevated to nobility by Emperor Karl VI.
In very good condition, very light marginal soiling.
