Two figures are leading a flock of various domestic animals past a pond. Two figures are travelling into the forest past the rocky outcrop to the right. In the background a large, elaborate castle.
Etching on laid paper, sheet size 276 x 251 mm., platemark 266 x 242 mm., made by Anthony van der Haer in 1772, after Jan van der Meer who painted this scene in 1704.
Anthony van der Haer (Amsterdam 1730-1785 Rotterdam) was a Dutch amateur graphic artist and draughtsperson. Jan van der Meer II (Haarlem 1656-1705) was a Dutch painter and printmaker. He was married to Maria Dusart, the brother of printmaker Cornelis Dusart.
In very good condition. Margins cropped close to the platemark. A few small scattered spots in the margins. Image clean and fresh.
