Leiden (Lugduni Batavorum), Iohannis Maire, 1655, 12mo., full leather binding with ribbed and gold tooled spine, red and blue sprinkled edges, [8]+168+[22]+281+[11] pp., the book is of solid construction and in good condition, but the head and tail bands are damaged with the tail band missing. With an engraved titlepage depicting a satyr selling books, a woodcut printer's mark and some decorative initials.

Volume 1 (of two). It concerns a collection of satirical texts, opening with Justus Lipsius and his Satyra menippaea somnium. Each text has it's own halftitle. The texts by Greek authors are presented in Greek on the left pages and Latin on the right pages.
