Beschrijving
Portrait of Jacques Necker (1732-1804), French statesman. Below the portrait in medaillon, a frieze with a violent confrontation between soldiers and citizens on July 12, 1789.
Etching (frieze) and aquatint (portrait) on wove paper, sheet size 283 x 437 mm., aquatint by Charles Levachez (active 1760-1820), etching by Jean Duplessi-Bertaux (1750-1818) after his own design, 1797.
An interesting sheet, mixing two graphic techniques for very different effects. In very good condition, although cropped within platemark on three sides.
