Full-length portrait of Jacques-Bénigne Bossuet (1627-1704) in his study. Bossuet was a French theologian and bishop. He has been considered by many to be one of the most brilliant orators of all time and a master French stylist.
Engraving on hand laid paper, sheet size 388 x 558 mm., platemark 345 x 507 mm., engraved by Pierre-Imbert Drevet (1697-1739) after Hyacinthe Rigaud (1659-1743), 1723.
Excellent portrait in very good condition, a small nick in the lower margin (not nearly affecting image), some general light discolouration in the margins. Two creases in the right margin.
