Beschrijving
Landscape with (probably) river Kander in the Gasterntal in Switzerland. High rocky ridges on both sides of the wild river, and a mountain range in the background.
Lithograph on chine-collé, sheet size 384 x 463 mm., image size 272 x 339 mm. Made by Sjoerd Hendrik de Roos (1877-1962), signed and dated (1939) in pencil in the lower right margin corner, title in pencil lower left. Also signed in the stone, lower right.
An excellent copy. An unidentified collector's mark on the verso (not in Lugt).
This print features in the periodical 'Halcyon', no. 9-10 (1942) in an article on S.H. de Roos by J.H. de Bois. According to a letter by graphic designer Dick Dooijes, De Roos made a sepia drawing while on holiday, and later this lithograph.
