Beschrijving
Two engravings on one sheet, anonymous copies in reverse after the hunting scenes by Antonio Tempesta. Possibly from the workshop of Claes Jansz. Visscher, as they did publish a smaller sized series of 12 hunting scenes after Tempesta (cf. Hollstein 160 and 171). Engraving on hand laid paper with two watermarks (crowned GR (churchill 213) and Pro Patria), sheet size 330 x 418 mm., platemarks 184 x 218 mm.
One print shows three riders and dogs attacking a bull that is running toward a spiked instrument on wheels. The other print shows riders and footmen driving boars toward netting.
An interesting and curious sheet, with the two plates printed on one sheet, but obviously intended to be separated, as the images are printed in opposite directions.
In good condition, some soiling and small nicks in the margin edges, a tear in the margin just between the two plates.
