Etching on wove paper by Godfried Schutze van Houten (1807 – 1869) after Jan Kobell (1778 – 1814), signed and dated 1839 in pencil in the lower right margin, sheet size: 393 x 487 mm., platemark: 343 x 400 mm. Nice tonal impression in excellent condition of the second state (of two).

Godfried Schutze van Houten was born in Rotterdam in 1807. He died in the same city in 1869, and was active as painter, etcher, engraver and draughtsman. He was a student of Gillis de Meijer and made a number of landscape etchings after Jan Kobell and Van Strij.
