Etching on wove paper, by Ernst Willem Jan Bagelaar, after his own design, executed in 1817, signed and dated below the image, platemark 103 x 149 mm., sheet size 121 x 169 mm.
Delicate etching in the second (final) state, with grey clouds added. Although Bagelaar (1775-1837) was originally an army man, he soon turned to a life of art after instructing himself in etching, basing many of the etchings on his own designs.
