Mezzotint on laid paper, by Thomas Blackmore after Jacob Backer (formerly attributed to Frans Hals), ca. 1770. Sheet size 264 x 203 mm., cropped within platemark (with loss of image and caption on both sides), top edge cropped in an oval.
Thomas Blackmore was born in London around 1740 and died around 1780. He does not seem to have been active for a long time; the dates on his prints range from 1769 to 1771. He mainly engraved portraits, of figures such as Sir Joshua Reynolds and Samuel Foote.
