Amsterdam, D.B. Centen, 1899, 146pp. original tooled linen binding with gilt ornaments and lettering on spine. Published on behalf of the Maatschappij van Weldadigheid governing the koloniën in the Netherlands (Frederiksoord, Wilhelminaoord, Veenhuizen, also known as het pauperparadijs, currently the museum Proefkolonie). All proceeds went to the upkeep of the facilities. Poor people werse sent to these colonies for education and work. The ideals did however not always coincide with the reality. Scarce.
