Two peasants in front of farm next to a river; good impression, clear and bright. some staining on the edges, Painter and etcher, working in Haarlem and Utrecht. Trained as publisher, but entered St Luke Guild in 1797. 1796-1810 director of Academy of Haarlem ('Teekenacademie'); 1810 moved to Utrecht where he made at least one etching. Painted mainly landscapes; sixty etchings of which forty-five landscapes (none dated, few initialled); also designer and painter of theatre sets.
