Paris (Parisiis), Apud Simonem Colinaeum, 1545, 8vo., full leather binding with ribbed spine, handsewn headbands, blindtooling on spine, front and back and gold tooled edges, the bookblock has red sprinkled edges, 219+[7] pp. The titlepage is smudged and has been repaired, the following few pages show some browning/staining, the last page has been repaired as well, like the titlepage it has been backed with another piece of paper. Some writing from the other side and some stains shine through. Overall, a beautiful copy in good condition with crisp printwork and some contemporary notes in the margins. Each section opens with a small initial with space reserved all around to add a more elaborate initial as was common in the handwritten books. With a printer's mark on the titlepage depicting the allegorical figure of Time (‘Tempus’). Printed in a beautiful roman italic font.
This copy inlcudes the four books of ‘Rhetoricorum ad C. Herennium’, as well as the two books of ‘De Inuentione’. From the collection of Jelle & Alie Vinke Kaspersma (signed in pencil).
