Amsterdam, Gerrit Tielenburg, 1758, 4to., half leather binding with woodlike decorative paper on the front and back, ribbed spine with titleplate, red sprinkled edges, [26]+308+[4] pp., the edges of the binding are a bit worn with the leather loosening on the bottom of the spine, the bookblock is in good condition with beautiful clear printwork and spacious lay-out, only some stains. Large engraving on the titlepage with the motto: ‘De kunst besteed met vrucht den tyd, Als zy der Deugd haar speeltuig wyd.’ (I.F.D.B. inv. P. Tanjé sculp.). With a dedication to Mr. Pieter Clifford (1712-1788, secretary and mayor of Amsterdam) and his wife Constantia Catharina Sautyn (1712-1782), accompanied by another large engraving. Following the introductory praises of Bernardus de Bosch (with contributions by various writers/poets, for instance: Lucretia van Merken en Dirk Willink), the main work follows, divided in four parts: Stichtelyke gedichten, Mengeldichten, Lofdichten and Lykdichten. Each part is introduced by a full page engraving ( I. de Bosch del., I. Folkema sculp.). Bernardus de Bosch (1709-1786) was a Dutch poet and a protector of the arts.
