Paris, Gide, Libraire-Editeur, 1843, 8vo., three volumes, half leather bindings with marbled paper, with (faded) gold tooling and title on spine, LVIII+570+[1]+558+[1]+608 pp., worn leather, volume I has a loose spine board, many pages are foxed and waterstained, lovely thin paper, solid bookblocks, no tears or folded corners. Illustrated with a folding map (last page of volume III): drawn by A. Humboldtand C. Petermann, engraved by Pierre Tardieu, written by Aubert Junior. Complete with all fourteen folding tables. Ex library: Bibliotheek van Doctrina & Amicitia. Alexander von Humboldt (1769-1859) was a Prussian geographer and explorer. This work is based on his Russian expedition of 1829. Two works were published on this expedition: "Fragmens de Geologie et de la Climatologie Asiastique" (1831) and this "Asie Centrale" (1843). A very scarce record of this expedition.
