A. van Overeem (1820-1892) wrote many plays for the rederijkers in Amsterdam including the Thomasvaer and Pieternel series. This collection starts with verses to be used at several occasions where no specific adressee is known, and then many verses written for named friends and acquaintances: silver wedding Nicolaas Wafelbakker (2-10-1862), friendship of A. Houtman and N. Wafelbakker, marriage of George Koopman and Johanna Olie (13-2-1863), play for the 25th wedding anniversary of Jan Solomon Bos and Jeanette Scholting (1-7-1863), printer Van de Erve van Munster en Zoon to be offered to the directie Amsterdamsche Schouwburg made by ‘de heer S. (Scheurleer? Schut?), kermisvers 1863 for the Nachtwacht by Hoofdcommissaris van Politie C. de Ree/Bie (?), the same for 1863, straatreinigers Amsterdam on the occassion of the kermis 1862, the same for 1866, 1867, 1868 18691870, 1871, 1872 for new year and kermis, voor H.
