First edition of the work of a 21 year old son of a Sussex farmer. The ‘Memoirs of the author’s life’ (pp. 1-52 of volume I) were probably written by his boss, the printer H. Curll. Volume I is illustrated with two engravings. Pattison failed as a student in Cambridge and wrote a satirical verse ‘College life’ and rakish verses on women and love. B0258.
