Chromotypogravure on wove paper, backed with cloth. Chromotypogravure was a relief halftone printing method in which the colour was printed from metal blocks. This essentially combines the ideas of relief halftone printing, with the colour printing from chromoxylography. Sheet size 645 x 443 mm. Made after an anonymous photograph, by Bousson, Valladon & Cie., printed by Lahure, published and sold by Strauss (Paris address) in a series of similar prints details parts of the Exposition Universelle de 1889 (World's Fair 1889).
In good condition. The image area clean and vibrant. The margins faintly browned. Margin edges with minimal damages and small creases, creasing and some paper loss in the top right margin corner.
