Beschrijving
A shepherdess kneels to pet one of her sheep, close to a pond. Several other sheep are resting nearby, while a dog jumps up to the small bopy with a staff standing behind her.
Etching on laid paper, sheet size 361 x 233 mm. Copy in reverse after Johannes Glauber, by an unknown printmaker.
Johannes Glauber (Utrecht 1646-1726 Schoonhoven) was a Dutch printmaker and painter, who travelled to Italy to join the Bentveughels. Initially his Bent name was Coridon, but as that name was already given to another member, he was known as Polidoor (after the landscape painter Polidoro da Caravaggio).
In good condition, faint original middle fold, a few very faint spots of soiling in the image area.
