Portrait of Abraham Dulignon, seated at a table and drawing. He was a preacher in Zeeland, but he also painted fans (in watercolour), and made drawings after Old Masters (Ruysdael, for example).
Etching on hand laid paper, sheet size 297 x 236 mm., platemark 128 x 104 mm. Etching by Reinier Vinkeles, published in 1764.
Reinier Vinkeles (Amsterdam 1741-1816) was a Dutch draughtsperson, printmaker, etcher and watercolourist. He was a prolific illustrator of books, made historical prints and detailed portraits, that were in great demand during his lifetime.
In very good condition, with ample margins, but with a cluster of dampstains in the lower left margin corner.
