Portrait of François Pithou (1543-1621), French laywer and author.
Engraving on hand laid paper, sheet size 284 x 414 mm., platemark 212 x 291 mm., engraved by Pieter van Schuppen (1627-1702), after Simon Vouet (1590-1649) and dated 1685.
In good condition, with ample margins. A rectangle of foxing around the portrait, from previous matting. Remains of mounting on all edges on the verso. Image faintly foxed but otherwise fine.
