Print no. 2 from the second series of 'Diuerses especes de poissons de mer' (Paris: Jacques van Merle, ca. 1650). Etching on laid paper, made by Albert Flamen after his own design, sheet 127 x 197 mm, platemark 105 x 177 mm., paper repair in the top right corner (outside of image area), a faint stain in the lower image edge.
Literature: Bartsch 14, Robert-Dumesnil 428. Albert Flamen (ca. 1620 – after 1669) was a Flemish engraver, active in Paris where he worked mainly as illustrator on numerous publications.
