Amsterdam, bij de Wed. Jan Dóll, 1794, 8vo. speckled paper binding, [4]+41 pp., the speckled paper is somewhat faded along the edges and worn along the spine, bookblock in good condition with only a few minor stains, with a fold out engraving depicting Nieuwland's tomb with the words ‘Natuur weenende om haar kind’ (Nature weeping for her child) by J. Ziesenis (delin.) and R. Ziesenis (sculp. 1794.) Pieter Nieuwland (1764-1794) was a Dutch nautical scientist, chemist, mathematician, and poet. During his life he was known as a child prodigy and has been called the Dutch Isaac Newton. This eulogy was written by his friend Jan Petersen Michell.
In the front of the booklet there is a handwritten list with dates.
