London, John Sharpe, [no date, 1810/11?], 12 books in 6 volumes, 12 illustrated title pages (drawn by Richard Cook, engraved by Charles Heath), very beautiful contemporary full green leather binding, handsewn head bands, gilded edges, lettering in gold, gold stamps on the outside, inside and edges of the binding and blind tooled floral decorations on the front and back cover. Book I and II: devotional and moral, book III and IV: didactic (including fables), descriptive, narrative and pastoral, book V and VI: odes, elegies, monodies and epitaphs, book VII and VIII: dramatic, book IX and X: ballads, songs, and sonnets, and satirical and humorous pieces, book XI and XII: larger poems. On the inside of the front cover, the bookbinder has left his name: ‘Rel. par v. Rossum’. This refers to Abraham van Rossum, a skilled bookbinder who worked in Amsterdam between 1812 en 1854. Complete set. Scarce.
