Beschrijving

Six plates from the collection of figures of animals designed by Jan van den Hecke and engraved by Theodor van Kessel. The plates are not numbered. The first plate is the frontispiece of the collection. It is titled on the left: ‘ALCUNE / ANIMALI / desegnate per / Giovanni vanden Hecke / et Intagl[ia]te per / Theod. van Kessel / An. 1654’, above the title: ‘G. Quineau Exc. in de Raamsteg’. In the other plates are: two donkeys; three goats in a landscape; four dogs in the foreground with a skull and on the background on the left the body of a man hangs from the gallows; a horse in a landscape; again two donkeys.
